Durham Cathedral
Standing as one of the greatest achievements in Norman architecture, the Durham Cathedral rests within the town of Durham, England and serves as the resting place of Saint Cuthbert, an early English Saint, and Saint Bede, a great scholar of the Anglo-Saxon time period.
Known as the Durham Cathedral Church of Christ and Blessed Mary the Virgin, the Cathedral serves today as a church, monastery, and central focus of the community that now stands in Durham.
Built as primarily a final resting place for Saint Cuthbert and Saint Bede, the most fascinating part of the Cathedral is primarily its architectural significance and symbol of accomplishment to the western world.
