LMS Royal Scot 46100 Steam locomotive
London Midlands and Scotish Royal Scot No. 61000
The original LMS Royal Scot was build in 1927 and was the first of 71 elite steam locomotives providing high-speed transport between Euston, Manchester, Liverpool, Carlisle and Glasgow.
This loco gained fame in 1933 by being shipped across the Atlantic and appearing at the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago. Brought back to the UK it spent its working life on fast express passenger trains.
It notched up 2.1 million miles in service before being decommissioned, and went on display at Sir Billy Butlin's holiday camps until 1971.
