Model 105e Anglia
Ford Anglia - Made with Deep Mined British Coal.
It was 1956 when Ford first began looking into a new car to fill the gap between the Ford Prefect and the Mk2 Consul. It was to be a medium sized car with two doors, with particular attention being paid to the comfort of the rear passengers.
One of the cars most obvious features is the rear sloping back window, not only does this look great but it's purpose was to maximise head room in the rear whilst still maintaining a reletively low roof line.
Even at this early stage the cars aerodynamics where a result of wind tunnel testing, however the shape of the car was not to overrule the comfort of the car.
Production of the 'all new anglia' started in 1959 and fast became the UK's best selling car, selling 200,000 in it's first year, and enjoyed production until November 1967, having built around 954,000.
