Knowing the time her husband would be home, as he was every day, the miners wife would bring in the old tin bath which was kept on a hook in the outside yard, she would place it on the stone floor just in front of the fire, then fill the bath with water from a large kettle that had been heating over the open fire, ready for when he came home.
